“Our special prayer goes to Kapadia Education Foundation staff and our sponsors who take this moment to think about refugees in Uganda.”
Bwema Matata, a KEF alumnus, has concentrated his volunteer efforts during this time at a Food Distribution Point in his refugee settlement. He is using the emergency funds to support himself and his family while he spends his days ensuring proper preventative measures are followed at the Distribution Center. Currently, this settlement is in an “emergency situation”, as there are many suspected cases of COVID-19 in the area.
However, this has not kept Bwema from doing his part to ensure his community of refugees is protected and well-fed. He spends his days at the Center testing the refugees’ temperatures before they enter, informing them of the food they will be receiving, and ensuring each individual distribution time is 5-10 minutes long to avoid dangerous overcrowding.
